Club

We are a non-profit organization dedicated to providing both competitive and training opportunities to youth in the greater Louisville area.
About Us

Louisville's Premier Track Club

Founded in 2008, the Louisville Track Club (LTC) is one of the premier youth track and field clubs in the state of Kentucky.  With a staff comprised of several current and former collegiate athletes and coaches, Louisville Track Club helps train and develop athletes in every event group.  As an AAU and USATF club, several athletes have progressed to compete on the national level and earn Junior Olympic All-American accolades.  Many LTC athletes have also advanced to compete in college at the NCAA D1 and NCAA D2 levels.

Training Philosophy

Wholistic. Tailored.

We believe in the wholistic training of track and field athletes, while tailoring training to fit the needs of individuals.  There is a heavy importance placed on teaching the fundamentals of Track and Field and building a base for each athlete starting with proper sprint mechanics and form. It is important to us to educate the athletes on “the why”, so they know the reasons why they are doing the workouts they are doing during the different cycles, as it ultimately helps lead to achieving their goals. We incorporate a hybrid approach to developing training plans with the goals we are trying to accomplish with each of the training cycles.  Our focus is to peak the athlete at a certain time during the year, using the following cycles.

Off Season / Fall Conditioning

  • We focus on building a base with the athletes with form and sprint mechanics and strength and conditioning.
  • Workouts focus more on controlled speeds, less recovery, and are heavily focused on conditioning the athlete and making them stronger.
  • Workouts are goal based and results driven.

Early / In-Season

  • Continue focusing on form and sprint mechanics
  • Shift focus on more technical event areas for these athletes
  • Increase intensity and speed on workouts, with greater recovery times.
  • We use a Meters Per Second approach with all sprint training, and back into the workout goals based off event goal times.
  • Quality over quantity is the focus on workouts

Late Season / Post Season

  • Sharpening phase of training
  • High intensity / Max recovery
  • Shorter distances / less reps / longer rest
  • Big meet performances
